Carpet Cloth Moth
Carpet Cloth Moth
- There are many varieties of Moths found in the U.K.
- An infestation of clothes moths causes damage to clothes, upholstery, carpets and rugs. The damage is caused by the larvae as they feed on keratin found in animal-based fibres ie, wool, silk, feathers, fur as well as dust containing human skin cells and hair.
- They target areas of carpets underneath furniture, in crevices of upholstered furniture and clothes that have not been worn for a long time. Fabrics with food, perspiration, or urine stains are more subject to damage.
- If left uncontrolled moths will increase in number. Female moths lay an average of 40 to 50 eggs during a 2-3 week period.
- Eggs hatch in 4-10-days during warm weather. The larval period lasts 35-days to 2.5-years.
- Treatment would be residual spray treatment.
